SPCE-SPIT ECELL (ELECTION OF NEW COMMITTEE FOR YEAR 2010-2011)
Hello guys,
The Entrepreneurship Cell (e-cell) hopes that all of u are doing fine and will “HAVE” made your start to the new term. The outgoing e-cell committee intends to elect a new committee for the coming year – 2010-11 All interested SE,TE and BE students should be present on July 21st, 2009 -Wednesday at 5.15 PM in the college ( TPO Office, 1st floor SPIT ) for selection with the outgoing committee.
The Selection procedure will involve a Presentation to be given by the candidates followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The presentation should include your vision for the e-cell, new events and activities, and in what way you can contribute to the E-cell and increase its awareness on campus.
The Entrepreneurship cell had a good year in terms of activities done, student involvement and the quality of learning imbibed by our students. To summarize what we did last year: Ø We had the day long 50- Rupee Venture involving 35 teams, and setting up your own business within the college campus for a day. Ø Celebration of Entrepreneurship Week with a Business quiz in SPJIMR Auditorium which saw participation from SPIT and SPJIMR Ø A Seminar speak by Mr. Vithal Srinivas ( Financial engineer from Stanford University) Ø A Business Ideation Workshop conducted by Mr. Raj Bhat Ø Business Bazaar- 50 Rs venture with a new set of rules Ø E- talkies-Screening of entrepreneurial movies Ø Making our bank account and securing funds for the working of E-cell. Ø The E-cell has been instrumental in attracting a grant of Rs 40 lacs from UGC (University Grants Commission) to bolster students towards entrepreneurship and provide them with resources and guidance to start their business venture. Ø Incubation Cell- Our college has been very supportive in providing resources and incubating students who wish to start their business venture. Ø E- cell will have fully operational website by 2011 and has already procured the domain name.
We envision that we will be able to pass the baton on to an able team with a lot of ambition, determination and passion towards E-cell. The E-cell was started by Dr. S Y Mhaiskar, principal of SPCE 3 years ago when he sought affiliation with NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network which happen to be our parent organization) and with great support from Dr. Prachi Gharpure, Principal of SPIT, we hope that you will come forward to lead e-cell in the right direction.
The posts for the year 2009-10 are open to all Second Year, Third Year and Fourth Year students only. The first year students can be members only and contribute in all event-related activites if they wish to become a part of the team.
There will be 5 posts which will be allotted to students as follows
1) Secretary
2) Joint Secretary
3) Head of Events
4) Head of Public Relations
5) Head of Technical Activities
These students will be guided and groomed by the Directors of the E-cell committee who may choose to continue this year.
This is a great opportunity to all of you who want to learn management and organization. Besides special e-leader certificates being given to the true leaders in the committee from NEN (the IIM directors sign themselves as NEN was started in the IIMS), you will also have a chance to interact with a variety of entrepreneurs. It could be anyone in the NEN umbrella like Mr. Kishore Biyani (Big bazaar ) Mr. Manmohan Shetty (Adlabs) or My Jay Mehta(The Loot). You will also get an opportunity to organize events at city level and attend national level events like the E-Summit at IITB and other colleges as a member of E-cell committee.
It will bolster your profile and your chances of joining any top B-school as E-cell is widely recognized / of your masters’ education abroad as the top universities look at your complete profile especially the leadership positions held, publications, etc. Let this not be the reason alone for you to join the e-cell committee but a mere incentive. It’s your drive and passion which should lead you to join and conduct all e-cell related activities.
The selection procedure will begin on 21th July (Wednesday) evening for all the interested candidates. The selection procedure will be generic and we would like to know your ability, drive, plans & vision for e-cell, sincerity and your leadership potential. Please mail your resume and carry a copy during the selection.
We understand that the 3rd & 4th year students will be busy in the CAT, GRE & Interview preparations but so were we, and we effectively handled all management work by delegating and working as a solid team, I ask you to not give up such a wonderful opportunity for yourself ONLY because you’ll think “I DON’T HAVE THE TIME”. If you think you have it in you, you can surely work something out with your team & manage your time. Trust us being in this team will help you greatly in the future.
